Arts and Crafts for Kids at Home
Kids can make mosaic arts or crafts, which are an ancient form of artwork and involve drawing a design and sticking mosaic tile pieces into an adhesive surface. Mosaic art is a very fun hobby or interest not only for adults but also for kids. Everybody enjoys making mosaics. Mosaics have been used to decorate floors, walls, tables and tiles for centuries. In the old times, Greeks, Romans and Byzantines were known for their mosaic work.
Kids had better start making mosaics trying simple designs and covering small and flat surfaces until they get the knack of working with tiles. Suppose that you are given a mosaic gift such as a box, picture frame, wall hanging or tray created by a kid. As it is handmade and a kid’s creation, its value is unquestionable. It won’t be a difficult mosaic tile project for kids to try various colours of glazing mosaics on simple coasters with different designs. They can also make a mosaic on the surface of an ordinary dish creating a special design, which is also a practical study of mosaic art and craft at home. They can also cover surfaces of boxes which can be used for different purposes or even they can draw some certain items that can be kept in these boxes as a design on the lid or other surfaces. Before getting to work with mosaic tiles and grout, kids can be given a sheet of graph paper and crayons which have the same colours as the tiles and they can be allowed to create their wall hanging design using their own imagination. It will certainly result in a mosaic art work which you will feel proud of.
